WI eye one day victories in Cricket Festival
After completing back-to-back twenty/20 victories over the weekend, the West Indies will on Tuesday play Canada in an official one-day international as the Supreme Ventures Sports Betting Jamaica Cricket Festival continues at Sabina Park in Kingston.
The West Indies beat Canada by 49 runs in the opening twenty/20 game at Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium on Saturday. They returned on Sunday to beat Ireland by 31 runs. Captain Darren Sammy says the one day games play a key role in preparations for the ICC 2010 Twenty20 World Cup in the Caribbean starting later this month. "Although we're preparing for the Twenty20 World Cup, I think it will be a welcoming game for the batmen who missed out in the twenty20 to spend some time at the crease," he said. The West Indies will play Ireland in a one day game on Thursday and will again take on the Irish in their opening 2010 Twenty20 World Cup game on April 30. |
